New Year's Resolution

My journal entry from July 28, 1997, on a trip to Italy with family friends after seeing Michelangelo’s Pietà sculpture in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican:

“Walking through the basement of St. Peter’s, Mr. G pointed to a marble oval on the floor and commented on the similarity between the designs in the marble and photographs of stars and galaxies, citing novas. Atoms to universes, we are one. Bonded physically, in nature and in spirit.”

Located about 6,000 light-years from Earth, the Heart and Soul nebulae form a vast star-forming complex that makes up part of the Perseus spiral arm of our Milky Way galaxy. New Year’s Resolution

I want to flow in the cosmic swirl of it all
Conscious in the quantum field
Seeing the synchronicities, the signs, the messages, the magic

Stepping through the veil in my dreams
Listening to the wise words of my ancestors, mystics, 
and other-worldly strangers I encounter on the sidewalk

Dancing with the universe
Acknowledging the beauty with gratitude

Following the bright things that sing to my soul
And mapping my journey as I live it

I have been here before, and I will be here again.
Each visit is a chance to go deeper and live bigger
To fully express myself in the muck and sparkle of it all.
